Some of the Key Issues

  • There are many important issues facing the State of Maine in the next legislative term. We have issues on our budget, education, taxes, and important services that are facing cutbacks. Our economy follows that of the nation, and times are difficult to say the least!  People are concerned about jobs, health care, and energy c costs!.
  • Taxes.  We have a major budget deficit and our current legislature, led by our own Glenn Cummings, worked hard to develop solutions.  We need to look at how we can be more effective in delivering key services to our most vulnerable Mainers, and at the same time conscious of how that burden affects others.
  • Economic Development is easy to talk about, and harder to make happen. I have worked in economic development, helping finance small business start ups and expansions.  I believe that experience is lacking in Augusta, and want to work to change that so that we can build a better future!  Maine has an incredible quality of place, and life.  That is just part of what can make us attractive to business.  We have a population that is known for being hard working and dependable. Growing businesses, and businesses considering a move here, need quality employees who are willing to work.   Attracting businesses from out of state or developing Maine based businesses means change. We have to be proactive in seeking out the “right” businesses that we want to have.
  • Education is critical to out future! We need to be sure that students get the education that they deserve!

So, are these issues easy? Do I have the silver bullet solution to them? No! Neither does anyone else! This will require work, and dedication by your next district representative in Augusta, and by you as a Maine citizen. I’ve created this website so that you can register and post your comments, because your voices need to be heard. I can’t promise that we will always agree, but I promise to listen to what you have to say, what your concerns are, and do my best to represent your interests in Augusta. I hope you will support me on November 4th.!
